The Arnolfini
The day was full of information on what we could get out of the art gallery. Our tour guide was taken by Nicky Slade.
The Arnolfini began in Bristol as a bookstore in the years of 1960, it has now expanded to a huge well known gallery featuring the best of the uk's or regions work. Not just showing relative art work as there are films, music, live bands and dance performances.
As this marks the 50th anniversary since when it was opened all the years ago they are still celebrating the fact of how far it's got. They have still got plans of making it bigger with writing across the walls that indicate hypothetical ambitions or goals of the museum.
Interim have not been proposed yet but work experience would be great if chosen, the job of working in an art gallery would be a great mark on the C.V. Maybe a case of meeting new upcoming artists. I've never been in the gallery before but most of the art made a great impression. As there are wednesday lectures that take place and are free to join in, it would be interesting to here people's points of views.
The funding towards the building is from the City council and because the galleries are very popular, it will regularly get hold weddings in the gallery as its a clear and open space; where photos take place.
The library is limited but they have a lot of publications and art journals. Also the staff dont mind to ask if you might have a question they will know what events and give more information about what would be best.
